Additionally, we are focused on promoting authors in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, and Idaho). We are headquartered in Portland and able to make local connections here. Please note that the farther away from Portland you live, the farther you may have to travel to make use of our network and resources. While we are not strict on our geographical boundaries, please note that it does factor into our selection process.

To submit a project, email bluecanarysubmissions@gmail.com with the word QUERY and the title of your manuscript in the subject line. In the body of the email, include your query letter and first two chapters of your novel. Your query letter should consist of the following information, in any order: the genre and word count of your novel, a back-of-book-style plot summary, and any relevant personal information about you as an author.

NOTE: Please include the entirety of your submission in the body of your email. For security purposes, we will not open email attachments. If we are interested in learning more about your novel, we will ask for a full synopsis.

Optional: Anywhere in your query, answer the following questions in one to two sentences: 

What three words best describe the tone of your novel? 

Your main character and their best friend are spending the day together. Describe what they’re most likely to be doing. 

We do our best to respond to each submission! Please expect a response in 2-4 weeks.
